Already in 1972, a diagnostic ultrasound Committee was founded as a part of the Czech Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. A few Czech experts in ultrasound were members of this committee, exploring the new diagnostic discipline. This working group was very active from the beginning and in 1974, the Committee transformed into a separate Section of the Czech ob&gyn society. Today, ultrasound diagnostics in obstetrics and gynecology plays a major role. The number of specialists focused on the ultrasound diagnostics in obstetrics and gynecology has risen significantly. Therefore, in March 2011, the Czech Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology CzMA JEP was established as the successor to the tradition of the original committee.
Quite symbolically, prof. Evžen Čech, who was already instrumental to the establishment of the Committee in 1972, became one of the founding members of the ČSUPG.
